The first preview performance of Theresa Rebeck’s new Broadway comedy Dead Accounts, which stars Katie Holmes and Norbert Leo Butz, has been moved back two days to November 5 due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Opening night remains scheduled for November 29 at the Music Box Theatre.
The show was initially slated to begin performances on November 3. Audiences of the canceled performance will receive a coupon for a free pint of Graeter’s Ice Cream (a Cincinnati-based brand featured heavily in the show).
Dead Accounts follows a Midwestern man named Jack (Butz) whose mysterious, middle-of-the-night homecoming is met with questions from his skeptical sister Lorna (Holmes). The show also stars Judy Greer as Jack’s wife, Josh Hamilton as his childhood friend and Jayne Houdyshell as Jack and Lorna’s mother.
The show is directed by Jack O’Brien and will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by David Weiner and sound design/music by Mark Bennett.
